Modular Certification Process
Certification is based on a module system. Applicants can select options from the given module systems according to preference and opportunity.
The examinations for the conformity assessment procedures are carried out in compliance with Directive 1993/15 EC.
MODULE B - EC Type Examination Certification
Compulsory tests in Module B are:
Blasting cap tests
Blasting cap trigger reliability test
Density tests of explosives
Test of explosives' sensibility limit to impact
Test of explosives' sensibility limit to friction
Test of explosive's thermal stability
Optional additional tests:
Test of explosives' exact sensibility to impact
Test of explosives' exact sensibility to friction
Test of explosives' detonation rate
Test of detonation propagation of explosives
Any other tests for explosives or igniters
There is no deadline for validity.
MODULE C – Conformity to type certification
The application must include details of what quantity the certification pertains to, on the basis of which it is possible to determine the sample quantity required for testing.
Validity is applicable for 1 to 2 years in the case of continuous manufacturing, or depending on specified quantity and warranty period.
MODULE D – Production Quality Assurance Certification
Applicants must have a QMS (quality management system) for manufacturing. The customer is required to present QMS documentation, with particular regard to elements in the documentation concerning quality monitoring during production and promoting the product safety of the final product.
The Notified Body conducts a surveillance audit at the manufacturing site to check whether the manufacturing conditions ensure fulfillment of the safety, quality, and technical requirements set down in the type certificate.
The validity for unchanged product types is one year.
MODULE E - Product Quality Assurance Certification
Applicants must have a QMS for final acceptance of the product. The customer is required to present the QMS documentation with particular regard to aspects in the documentation on final acceptance quality control to promote the product safety of the final product.
The Notified Body conducts a surveillance audit at the final acceptance site to check whether the procedures and monitoring methods applied during the course of final acceptance ensure fulfillment of the safety, quality, and technical requirements set down in the type certificate.
The validity for unchanged product types is one to two years.
